Launched in December 2024, Endurium is the culmination of a deep and long-standing research and development partnership between Invinity and Gamesa Electric, which has produced the world’s most advanced, modular VFB for widespread use across the energy industry to unlock low-cost, low-carbon power on-demand from renewable sources.

Endurium is Invinity’s fourth-generation flow battery, integrating our experience from years of operation and millions of watt hours of energy already dispatched for customers across the world into a design optimised for use in long-duration, high-throughput large-scale energy storage projects.

Following the formal launch of Endurium in December 2024, Invinity was proud to deliver and install our first ever Endurium system at the V-iOn Project in early 2025.

Gamesa Electric’s desire to deploy safe, non-degrading and durable energy storage alongside wind generation, in particular, has now come to fruition and is backed by Invinity’s unmatched experience in Long Duration Energy Storage and industry leading Vanadium Flow Battery technology platform.

The V-iOn Project

Located in La Plana, the V-iOn Project is a hybrid power plant that combines wind and solar generation alongside battery storage and diesel generation. It is a key testing facility for energy storage technology.

The battery is connected using a Gamesa Electric Proteus inverter.

The testing carried out by Gamesa Electric has confirmed that Invinity’s Endurium battery:

/ Exceeded operational expectations during testing;
/ Delivered 100% availability over weeks of constant cycling;
/ Demonstrated its ability to be charged directly from wind and solar in a colocated environment;
/ Achieved continuous operation without rest periods during testing;
/ Demonstrated no degradation in use; and
/ Successfully operated in consistently high ambient temperatures without performance loss, highlighting that this system does not need noisy and costly external cooling requirements such as HVAC.

The results of this extensive testing have proven that Invinity’s Endurium vanadium flow battery is a vital product that can significantly assist global decarbonisation goals.
